Overview

What Is Gig Postings?

Gig Postings is Helios's project-based hiring board. Post a custom Gig when your needs are unique or complex — define the project, set your goals, and receive tailored proposals from qualified experts ready to execute. Unlike Services (which are expert-defined packages you browse and request), Gig Postings let you set the requirements and invite the market to respond.

Understanding the Page Layout

Gig Postings is accessed via Hire HelpGig Postings in the left navigation. Your posted gigs appear as a card grid. Each card shows: status badge (Posted/Hiring/Offering/Contracted), cover image, title, category, description excerpt, application count, and compensation. A Create Gig button appears in the top-right. Clicking any card opens the gig detail with tabs: Posting, Applications, Contract, Invoices & Payment, Messaging, and History.

Gig Card Status Badges

  • Posted - Your gig is live and accepting applications.
  • Hiring - You are actively reviewing and selecting a candidate.
  • Offering - An offer has been made to a selected expert.
  • Contracted - The engagement is underway.

How to Create a Gig Posting

  1. Click Create Gig in the top-right of the Gig Postings page.
  2. Upload a cover image for your posting.
  3. Fill in the Title and select the appropriate Category for your project.
  4. Set the Payment Type (Fixed Price or Hourly Rate) and enter the Amount.
  5. Select the Work Site (Remote, On-Site, or Hybrid) and Work Authorization requirements.
  6. If On-Site, enter the Address of the work location.
  7. Write a clear Description summarizing the project and its goals. This is the first thing experts read. Clarity here directly affects the quality of applications you receive.
  8. In the Details section, provide:
  • Scope & Requirements - specific tasks and deliverables you expect.
  • Timeline & Priority - key milestones and due dates.
  • Potential Risks & Assumptions - known constraints or dependencies.
  • Preferred Experience & Skills - qualifications you are looking for.
  1. Review all information, then click Post Gig to make the gig live.
  2. Your posting appears on the board with a Posted status badge. Use Share Gig to send the link directly to experts you want to invite.

How to Manage Applications

  1. Open your active gig from the Gig Postings page.
  2. Click the Applications tab to see all submitted applicants, their profiles, and proposal details.
  3. Use the Messaging tab or Message Hub to communicate with applicants before selecting.
  4. Review each application, then move the selected candidate through the status pipeline: PostedHiringOfferingContracted.
  5. Use the Share Gig button to invite additional experts if needed.


Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Gig Postings and Quick Tasks?+
Gig Postings are for complex, larger-scope projects with detailed requirements, higher budgets, and multi-step deliverables. Quick Tasks are for simpler, faster, lower-cost engagements that can be completed quickly. Both follow the same Posted → Hiring → Offering → Contracted workflow.
Can I post a gig and also browse for experts to invite?+
Yes. Post your gig and use the Experts page to find and invite specific professionals to apply via the Invite to Gig button on their profile.
Can I edit a gig after it has been posted?+
Yes. Open your posted gig and use the edit option in the three-dot menu in the upper right.
What happens when I move a gig to Contracted status?+
The gig is marked as filled and no longer accepts new applications. The contracted expert is confirmed and the engagement begins. All contracting, milestones, and payments are managed inside Helios.
How do I close or remove a gig posting?+
Use the three-dot menu on your gig posting to unpublish or close it. This removes it from the public board.



Troubleshooting

My gig is not appearing on the Gig Postings board.+
Confirm your posting is published. Go to your gig detail page and check the status bar. It should show Posted. If the gig was saved as a draft, publish it to make it visible.
I am not receiving applications on my gig.+
Ensure your posting has a clear description, well-defined scope, and reasonable compensation. Use Share Gig to send the link directly to experts, or use Invite to Gig from the Experts directory.
The Applications tab shows zero even though experts have told me they applied.+
Refresh the page. If the count still does not update, contact Helios support. There may be a sync issue with the applications feed.
I cannot change the status of my gig to Contracted.+
You must have at least one accepted application to advance to the Contracted stage. Confirm an application has been reviewed and accepted before progressing the status.



Tips for Getting the Most Out of Gig Postings

  • Write a clear, specific title and category. Experts browse by category and a well-labeled posting attracts more relevant applications.
  • Review Service Offering from experts before posting your own. An expert may have already packaged exactly the engagement you need at a set price.
  • Monitor the applications count badge on your posted gigs from the main listing page so you can tell at a glance which postings have attracted interest.
