Address the business's stated scope and requirements directly. Highlight your most relevant experience for this specific project, explain your approach to the key challenges described, and be specific. Generic applications are far less effective than targeted ones.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Gig Postings

  • Read the full Posting tab before applying, especially Scope & Requirements, Timeline & Priority, and Potential Risks & Assumptions. A targeted application that directly addresses the stated requirements is far more effective than a generic one.
  • Only apply to gigs where the scope, timeline, and budget genuinely align with your expertise and availability. A strong fit and a quality proposal beat volume every time.
  • Use the skills match between your profile and the Preferred Experience & Skills tags as a quick fit filter. If the tags align well with your Skills & Competence matrix, the business is more likely to consider your application seriously.
  • Keep your Expert Profile fully published and up to date. Businesses review your profile when they receive your application. An incomplete profile can undermine an otherwise strong proposal.
  • Respond promptly to messages from businesses after applying. Fast, professional engagement signals that you are reliable and easy to work with, which often matters as much as your technical qualifications.
