Adding Skills & Competencies

Helios Help Center Expert Guides Helios Help Center Adding Skills & Competencies Your Skills & Competencies help businesses understand what you do best and how experienced you are in specific areas. They also play an important role in how Helios matches your profile to relevant searches, services, gigs, and opportunities. A well-built skills profile makes it easier for businesses to find you and assess whether you're the right fit before reaching out. Jump to: 🧩 How to Add Skills & Competencies ❓ Frequently Asked Questions 🔧 Troubleshooting 💡 Tips 🧩 How to Add Skills & Competencies 01 Go to Expert Profile → Experience & Skills. 02 Click Add Skill. 03 Select a Category (such as Maintenance, Operational Excellence, Quality, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing Engineering). 04 Select the specific Skill you want to add. 05 Choose a Maturity Level. 06 Click Save. 07 Repeat for your most relevant skills. Aim for 8–15 focused skills that accurately reflect your expertise. ℹ️ Maturity Levels Explained 🔹 Familiar (1): Basic awareness and limited practical experience 🔹 Developing (2): Some hands-on experience with guidance 🔹 Proficient (3): Able to work independently and consistently 🔹 Advanced (4): Deep expertise with the ability to lead or mentor others 🔹 Master (5): Recognized subject matter expert with extensive experience ❓ Frequently Asked Questions How many skills should I add? Aim for 8–15 relevant skills. Focus on quality over quantity. A profile with 10 highly relevant skills is often more effective than one with dozens of broad or loosely related skills. How should I choose my maturity level? Select the level that best reflects your real-world experience. Businesses may use maturity levels when evaluating experts, so accuracy helps create better matches and expectations. 🔧 Troubleshooting I can't find the skill I'm looking for. Try searching for a related term or browsing a broader category. If an exact match isn't available, select the closest skill and use your profile headline, summary, or experience section to provide additional context. I added a skill but it isn't showing on my profile. Make sure you've saved the skill before leaving the page. Refresh the page if needed to confirm the update. 💡 Tips ⭐ Choose specific skills whenever possible. "Root Cause Analysis" provides more value than a broad category such as "Quality." ⭐ Keep your skills list focused on areas where you can confidently deliver results. ⭐ Review your skills periodically and update maturity levels as your experience grows. How to Build a Strong Expert Profile

Helios Help Center Expert Guides Helios Help Center How to Build a Strong Expert Profile Your Expert Profile is your professional presence on Helios. It's often the first thing a business sees before deciding whether to contact you, invite you to a Gig, or purchase one of your Services. Jump to: ⭐ What Makes a Strong Profile? ☑️ Profile Completion Checklist 🌟 Best Practices ❓ Frequently Asked Questions 🔧 Troubleshooting ⭐ What Makes a Strong Profile? A strong profile helps answer three important questions: ✓ Can you do this? ✓ Have you done it before? ✓ Can I trust you? The more complete and specific your profile is, the easier it is for businesses to understand your expertise and find you through search. ☑️ Profile Completion Checklist For the best visibility and credibility, complete the following sections: ☐ Professional banner image and profile photo ☐ Hourly rate range ☐ Specific, outcomes-focused headline (a value proposition, not just a job title) ☐ Work style selected (Remote, On-Site, Hybrid, or Travel-Based) ☐ Professional summary ☐ Industries I Know ☐ Skills & Competence matrix ☐ Software I Use ☐ Machines Worked With (if applicable) ☐ Professional Experience ☐ Certifications I Hold ☐ Work I'Ve Done (portfolio examples) ☐ At least one published Service ☐ Profile Published 🌟 Best Practices 📸 Use a Professional Photo Choose a clear, professional profile photo and banner image. First impressions matter, and a polished profile helps build trust. ✍️ Write a Strong Headline Avoid generic titles like: ❌ Manufacturing Engineer ❌ Quality Consultant Instead, focus on the value you provide: ✅ Helping manufacturers reduce scrap and improve process performance ✅ Lean manufacturing specialist driving productivity improvements ✨ Why It Matters A strong headline tells businesses how you can help them. 🎯 Be Specific About Your Expertise Complete your Industries, Skills, Software, and Equipment sections with as much relevant information as possible. Businesses often use these fields when searching for experts. 💼 Showcase Real Experience Use the Professional Experience and Work I've Done sections to demonstrate your background and accomplishments. Include examples of: Projects you've completed Process improvements you've led Audits, assessments, or training you've delivered Results you've achieved ⚠️ Important Note Always remove confidential or proprietary information before uploading files. 🛠️ Publish a Service Services make it easier for businesses to understand exactly what you offer and how they can engage with you. Even a single Service listing can improve your visibility and help generate opportunities. 🔄 Keep Your Profile Updated As your experience grows, update your profile with new skills, certifications, work examples, and Services. An up-to-date profile helps maintain credibility and improves discoverability. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Do I need to complete every section before publishing? No. Publish with what you have and continue improving your profile over time. An 80% complete published profile is far more valuable than a 100% complete profile that remains unpublished. How long does it take to build a strong profile? Most experts can create a basic profile in 15–30 minutes. A fully optimized profile with work examples, certifications, and Services may take a few hours. Can I edit my profile after publishing? Yes. You can update your profile at any time as your experience, skills, and offerings evolve. 🔧 Troubleshooting My profile completeness score isn't updating. Make sure you save each section before leaving the page. Some sections have their own Save button. If the score doesn't update immediately: Refresh the page Verify all required fields are completed Save the section again I published my profile but it's not appearing in search results. New profiles may take a few minutes to appear in search results. Also check that: Your profile is published Skills and industries have been added Your headline clearly describes your expertise Profiles with more complete information generally rank higher in search results. Businesses aren't contacting me. Review your profile and ask: Is my headline specific? Have I clearly described my expertise? Do I have work examples uploaded? Have I published at least one Service? Small improvements in these areas can significantly increase profile views and engagement. Related Guides Learn About the Expert Portal Create Your Expert Profile Adding Skills & Competencies

Community Standards

Helios Help Center User Safety & Security Helios Help Center Community Standards Helios is a professional platform built for the manufacturing community. Everyone who joins (businesses, experts, vendors, students, and community participants) plays a role in keeping it useful, respectful, and trustworthy. These Community Standards describe what good participation looks like on Helios in everyday terms. They are not a substitute for the Code of Conduct or the Terms of Service , but they give members a practical picture of how to engage well on the platform. Jump to: 🤝 What Helios Expects From Every Member 🚫 What Is Not Acceptable on Helios 🤲 How to Handle Disagreements ❓ Frequently Asked Questions 💡 Tips 🤝 What Helios Expects From Every Member ✅ Be professional Helios connects people around real manufacturing work. Communicate clearly, honestly, and respectfully, whether you are messaging an expert, posting a gig, leaving a review, or participating in a community discussion. ✅ Be accurate Represent yourself, your credentials, your company, and your work truthfully. Inaccurate profiles, false claims, and misleading listings undermine trust for everyone on the platform. ✅ Be fair Engage in good faith. Do not manipulate reviews, mislead other users, or take advantage of the platform's processes for personal gain at someone else's expense. ✅ Be responsible Only share content, files, and information you are authorized to share. Respect intellectual property, confidentiality, and the privacy of others. ✅ Be constructive Disagreements happen. When they do, keep the conversation focused on the work, the issue, or the transaction, not the person. 🚫 What Is Not Acceptable on Helios The following behaviors are not permitted on Helios and may result in content removal, account restrictions, or suspension: ❌ Harassment, threats, intimidation, or abusive communication toward any user ❌ Impersonating another person, company, brand, or organization ❌ Posting false credentials, fabricated work samples, or misleading service descriptions ❌ Manipulating ratings, reviews, or platform discovery through inauthentic activity ❌ Sharing confidential, proprietary, or export-controlled information without authorization ❌ Uploading malware, phishing links, or malicious files ❌ Soliciting or facilitating transactions outside of Helios to avoid platform processes ❌ Posting content that is illegal, hateful, explicit, or harmful For the full list of prohibited conduct and enforcement consequences, see the Code of Conduct . 🤲 How to Handle Disagreements If a professional disagreement arises over a deliverable, a scope expectation, or a communication, the best first step is direct, professional communication through the Helios messaging system. Keep a record of what was agreed, what was delivered, and what was raised. If a situation cannot be resolved directly, Helios support is available to assist. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Who do these standards apply to? Everyone who uses Helios: businesses, experts, vendors, suppliers, students, organizations, and community participants. What is the difference between Community Standards and the Code of Conduct? Community Standards are a practical, plain-language guide to everyday behavior on Helios. The Code of Conduct is the full policy document that defines all rules, prohibited conduct, and enforcement consequences. Both apply to all users. What happens if someone doesn't follow these standards? Helios may remove content, restrict access, or suspend accounts depending on the severity and pattern of the behavior. See Enforcement and Appeals for more detail. Can I report a user who is not following these standards? Yes. See Reporting a User for instructions on how to report policy violations, misconduct, or suspicious activity. 💡 Tips for Community Engagement ⭐ A complete, accurate profile builds trust before a single message is sent. Take time to represent your experience and credentials honestly. ⭐ Keep all communication inside the Helios platform. Off-platform conversations are harder to document and may not be eligible for support in a dispute. ⭐ If something feels wrong (a suspicious request, pressure to move communication off-platform, or an offer that seems too good to be true), report it before taking further action. Avoiding Scams & Fraud

Helios Help Center User Safety & Security Helios Help Center Avoiding Scams and Fraud Helios is a platform built on trust. While Helios works actively to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, users play an important role in protecting themselves and the community. This article covers the most common scam and fraud patterns on B2B platforms, the red flags to watch for, and how Helios helps protect members. Jump to: ⚠️ Common Scam and Fraud Patterns 🚩 Red Flags to Watch For 🛡️ How Helios Protects Members 🚨 What to Do If You Suspect Fraud ❓ Frequently Asked Questions 💡 Tips ⚠️ Common Scam and Fraud Patterns 💳 Off-Platform Payment Requests One of the most common fraud patterns is a request to pay or be paid outside of the Helios platform via wire transfer, cryptocurrency, gift card, or a direct payment link sent through messaging. Legitimate engagements on Helios are processed through Stripe within the platform. Any request to move payment off-platform should be treated as a serious red flag. 👥 Fake or Impersonated Profiles Fraudulent users sometimes create profiles that impersonate legitimate businesses, well-known experts, or established brands to build false credibility. Always verify that a profile is complete, consistent, and matches the claimed identity before entering into an engagement. 💼 Too-Good-To-Be-True Offers Unrealistically low pricing, unusually fast turnaround promises, or requests for large upfront payments for unverified work are common indicators of fraudulent listings or expert profiles. 🔗 Phishing Links and Malicious Files Some fraudulent users attempt to send links to fake login pages or files containing malicious code disguised as proposals, contracts, or technical documentation. Do not click links from users you do not know and trust, and be cautious about opening file attachments sent through messaging. 🛡️ Credential or Identity Fraud Experts or service providers who misrepresent their qualifications, certifications, company affiliations, or past work experience to win engagements are engaging in credential fraud. This can result in poor outcomes, liability, and harm to your business. ⚡ Advance Fee Fraud A user asks you to pay a fee, deposit, or advance payment before work begins and then disappears or fails to deliver. Always use Helios's built-in payment and milestone tools, which hold funds until work is reviewed and accepted. 🚩 Red Flags to Watch For Be on the lookout for the following warning signs: ❌ A user asks you to communicate or pay outside of Helios immediately ❌ A profile has no reviews, no completed engagements, and little or no profile information ❌ A listing offers significantly below-market pricing for complex or specialized work ❌ You receive unsolicited messages with links, attachments, or offers you did not request ❌ A user pressures you to act quickly or make a decision without time to review ❌ Credentials, company names, or work samples cannot be verified or seem inconsistent ❌ You are asked to send payment to a personal account, cryptocurrency wallet, or gift card 🛡️ How Helios Protects Members Stripe-powered payments All financial transactions are processed through Stripe, reducing exposure to direct payment fraud Held funds Payments are held pending review and completion, protecting both businesses and experts Verification standards Helios applies verification and eligibility standards to experts, vendors, and sellers on the platform Trust and Safety review The Helios Trust and Safety team reviews reports of suspected fraud and takes enforcement action when violations are confirmed Dispute support Helios provides a dispute process to assist users when engagements do not go as expected 🚨 What to Do If You Suspect Fraud 01 Do not send any payment, files, or personal information to the suspected user. 02 Report the user or listing immediately using the in-platform report function. 03 If you have already sent a payment or shared sensitive information, contact Helios through the Ideas & Feedback form as soon as possible. 04 If you believe you have been the victim of a crime, contact your local law enforcement authority. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Is it ever acceptable to pay an expert outside of Helios? No. All payments for Helios engagements should be processed through the platform. Off-platform payments are not covered by Helios dispute support, held-fund protections, or Stripe payment security. What if an expert or business I am working with asks me to communicate on another app? Moving all communication off-platform early in an engagement is a common fraud indicator. Helios recommends keeping all communication, agreements, and file sharing within the platform throughout the engagement. I think I clicked a malicious link. What should I do? Change your Helios password immediately. Contact Helios through the Ideas & Feedback form and report the user who sent the link. How can I verify that an expert's credentials are legitimate? Review their profile carefully for consistency, check their work samples, look for completed engagement reviews, and ask specific questions about their experience during the pre-engagement conversation. If credentials seem inconsistent or unverifiable, proceed with caution. 💡 Tips ⭐ Keep all communication, file sharing, and payments inside Helios throughout your engagement. This protects you if a dispute or concern arises. ⭐ If an offer seems too good to be true, it usually is. Take time to verify profiles, credentials, and reviews before committing to an engagement. ⭐ Never click links or open file attachments from users you have not established a verified working relationship with on the platform. ⭐ Enable Two-Factor Authentication on your Helios account to add an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access. Workspace or Account Deletion

Helios Help Center Accounts & Access Helios Help Center Requesting Workspace or Account Deletion Deletion requests allow workspace owners and account holders to formally submit a request to have their Helios workspace or personal account permanently removed. Because there is no self-serve delete option in the platform, all deletion requests are submitted through the Helios Support panel and handled by the Helios team. Jump to: 🏷️ Key Terms 🔄 Understanding the Deletion Process 🗑️ How to Submit a Deletion Request ❓ Frequently Asked Questions 🔧 Troubleshooting 💡 Tips 🏷️ Key Terms Workspace Your organization's dedicated environment within Helios, where all members, files, gigs, catalogs, and platform activity are housed under one account. Account Your individual Helios user profile, including your login credentials, personal settings, and activity history. Deletion Request A support submission asking the Helios team to permanently remove your workspace or account from the platform. Helios Support Panel The in-platform support tool, accessed via the lightbulb icon in the top navigation bar, used to submit requests to the Helios team. 🔄 Understanding the Deletion Process Workspace and account deletion cannot be completed directly from your settings. To protect your data and prevent accidental removal, all deletions are processed manually by the Helios team. Once you submit your request, either through Account Settings or the Helios Support panel, the team will follow up to confirm and complete the deletion. This process applies to both workspace deletion (removing your entire organization's environment) and individual account deletion (removing your personal user profile). 🗑️ How to Submit a Deletion Request There are two ways to submit a deletion request depending on what you need to remove. Option 1 — Delete Your Account via Settings Use this method to request permanent deletion of your individual Helios account. 01 Click your user avatar (profile photo) in the bottom-left corner of the navigation panel (for Customer Portal) or the Settings icon at the right corner of the left navigation panel (for Expert Portal). 02 Look for the Danger Zone section and click Delete Your Account. 03 When prompted, retype the email address associated with your account to confirm. 04 Click Delete Account to submit your request. This sends a permanent account deletion request to the Helios support team. They will review it and follow up with you by email before any action is taken. Option 2 — Delete Your Workspace or Account via the Support Panel Use this method to request workspace deletion, or as an alternative method for account deletion. 01 Click the lightbulb icon in the top-right corner of the navigation bar to open the Helios Support panel. 02 Select Delete Workspace or Account. 03 In the Title field, enter a brief description of your request — for example, "Delete my workspace" or "Delete my account." 04 In the Description field, provide relevant details, including whether you are requesting workspace deletion, account deletion, or both, and any context the Helios team may need. 05 Click Send to submit your request. The Helios team will review your submission and reach out to confirm the deletion before any action is taken. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Who can submit a workspace deletion request? Any workspace member can submit a deletion request through the Support panel. However, only the workspace Owner can authorize the final deletion. The Helios team will confirm with the Owner before proceeding. Can I delete just my account without deleting the workspace? Yes. Use Option 1 (Account Settings) to request deletion of your individual account without affecting the workspace. If you are requesting both, use Option 2 and specify both in your description. Is deletion permanent? Yes. Once a workspace or account is deleted, the action cannot be undone. All data, files, gigs, and member records associated with the workspace or account will be permanently removed. Back up any information you need before submitting your request. How long does the deletion process take? Processing times may vary. The Helios team will contact you after receiving your request to confirm details and provide a timeline. What happens to active gigs or services when a workspace is deleted? The Helios team will advise you on any active engagements or pending transactions that need to be resolved before deletion can be completed. 🔧 Troubleshooting I can't find the Delete Account option in Settings. Go to Settings → Manage Account and scroll to the bottom of the page. If you still cannot locate it, use the Helios Support panel (Option 2) to submit your request. I can't find the Delete Workspace or Account option in the Support panel. Open the Helios Support panel by clicking the lightbulb icon in the top navigation bar. Scroll to the bottom of the support category list. Delete Workspace or Account is the last option. I submitted a request but haven't heard back. Check your registered email inbox, including your spam or junk folder. If you have not received a response within a reasonable timeframe, resubmit your request through the Support panel with a note that it is a follow-up. 💡 Tips for Workspace and Account Deletion ⭐ Before submitting a deletion request, go to Settings → Manage Members to review all active members on your workspace. Informing your team before requesting deletion ensures no one loses access to important data unexpectedly. ⭐ If you have active subscriptions or platform invoices, visit Settings → Platform Invoices to review any outstanding charges before your workspace is removed. ⭐ Make sure to download or back up any files, records, or data you need from Helios Drive before submitting your deletion request. Check the file size and format. Very large files may fail to upload. Resize the image to under 2 MB and try again. The workspace name is not updating after I click Save. Accessed via the bell icon in the top-right navigation bar, it delivers an in-platform inbox that keeps you updated on activity relevant to your account, including contract signings, new gig applications, service request updates, message alerts, and other platform events. Jump to: 🏷️ Key Terms 🖥️ Understanding the Notification Panel 🔑 Step-by-step Guides 🔔 Types of Notifications You May Receive 📬 Bulk & Per-notification Actions ⚙️ Notification Preferences ❓ Frequently Asked Questions 🔧 Troubleshooting 💡 Tips 🏷️ Key Terms Notifications The bell icon in the top-right navigation bar that opens the Notifications inbox. Notifications Inbox The dropdown panel displaying all recent notifications in reverse chronological order. Unread Indicator An orange dot displayed next to unread notifications. Notification Settings A gear icon in the Notifications panel header that opens notification preferences. 🖥️ Understanding the Notifications Panel Notifications open as a dropdown panel from the bell (🔔) icon in the top navigation bar. The panel header shows Inbox with a dropdown arrow (to switch between Inbox and archived views), a three-dot menu (···), and a gear (⚙) icon for notification settings. Each notification item shows: a user avatar, a notification title (for example, Contract Signed , New Application ), a timestamp, and a short description of the event. Unread notifications are indicated by an orange dot to the left of the avatar. To switch to your archived notifications, click the Inbox dropdown arrow at the top of the panel and select the archived view. This view stores all notifications you have previously archived and is useful for referencing past activity. 🔑 Step-by-step Guides How to Access Notifications 01 Click the bell icon in the top-right corner of the navigation bar. 02 The Notifications inbox panel drops down showing your recent alerts. 03 Click any notification to navigate directly to the relevant record. 04 Click outside the panel or press Escape to close it. How to Manage Notification Settings 01 Open the Notifications panel by clicking the bell icon. 02 Click the gear icon (⚙) in the upper-right corner of the panel. 03 The Notification Preferences panel opens with four expandable categories. Adjust each one based on your preferences. 04 Changes are saved automatically as soon as a toggle is switched. 🔔 Types of Notifications You May Receive Here are the common types of notification updates you may receive on the platform: Contract signed a service or gig contract was executed. New application an expert applied to your gig or quick task. Service request update a status change occurred on a service request you are involved in. Gig or Quick Task status change a posting moved to a new stage. Other platform events Activity updates, member invitations, and other platform events. 📬 Bulk & Per-notification Actions Bulk Notification Actions The three-dot menu (···) in the panel header provides three bulk options: Mark all as read Clears the unread indicator from all notifications. Archive all Moves all notifications to the archived view. Archive read Archives only notifications you've already read, keeping unread ones visible. Individual notifications can be clicked to navigate directly to the relevant item (for example, a gig application or signed contract). Per-Notification Actions When you hover over an individual notification, two action icons appear in its top-right corner: Mark as read (checkmark icon) Marks that single notification as read without affecting others. Archive (inbox icon) Moves that single notification to the archived view. These per-item controls let you manage notifications one at a time without using bulk actions. Archiving a single notification does not delete it; it moves to the archived view and can be retrieved at any time. Direct Navigation Individual notifications can also be clicked to navigate directly to the relevant item (for example, a service request or signed contract). ⚙️ Notification Preferences The settings panel contains four categories, each with an In-App toggle: Global Preferences Master on/off switch for all in-app notifications. Turning this off disables all alerts regardless of the settings below. Gigs Notifications related to gig postings, applications, and status changes. Services Notifications for service requests, updates, and contract activity on your listed services. Quick Tasks Notifications for quick task assignments and status changes. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions How do I know if I have unread notifications? An orange dot or count badge appears on the bell icon in the top navigation when there are unread notifications. What is the difference between archiving and deleting a notification? Archiving moves a notification to the archived view, where it remains accessible indefinitely. There is no delete function. Archiving is the way to clear your inbox while preserving history. Can I retrieve a notification I accidentally archived? Yes. Click the Inbox dropdown arrow at the top of the panel, switch to the archived view, and locate the notification there. 🔧 Troubleshooting The bell icon shows a badge but I do not see new notifications in the panel. Refresh the page and reopen the panel. The badge count may not clear until you open the panel and the unread items are loaded. I missed a notification for a new service request. Notifications can occasionally be missed if the panel isn't checked promptly. As a backup, go to the Requests section in the left sidebar of the Expert Portal. This page lists all incoming service requests independent of the notification system. It is good practice to check Requests regularly, regardless of your notification status. 💡 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Notifications ⭐ For experts: If you offer multiple engagement types but want to reduce noise, you can disable specific categories (e.g., Quick Tasks) while keeping Services and Gigs active. The Global Preferences toggle overrides all categories. Only turn it off if you want to pause all notifications entirely. ⭐ Use Mark all as read after a regular review session to keep your inbox clean and ensure new notifications are easy to spot. ⭐ Click directly on a notification to jump straight to the relevant record without navigating manually. ⭐ Use Archive read periodically to declutter the inbox while preserving a history of older notifications in the archived view.

Define the scope, process, deliverables, and pricing once. Businesses request it; you respond with a proposal and get to work. 📌 Gig Postings Browse custom projects posted by businesses. Apply with a targeted proposal. If selected, move through offer → contract → deliver → get paid. ⚡ Quick Tasks Browse short, focused requests posted by businesses. Apply fast, deliver quickly, build credibility. Great for staying active between larger engagements. Three Ways to Earn on Helios ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Is the Expert Portal separate from the business portal? Yes. The Expert Portal has its own dedicated navigation and tools designed for experts. While some features like Catalogs+, Helios Drive, and Bookmarks are available to both experts and businesses, the Earn Money section, My Profile, and Experts Listings are specific to the expert experience. Do I need to complete my profile before I can earn on Helios? You do not need a 100% complete profile to start, but a published profile is essential. Businesses review your profile before hiring you for services, gigs, and quick tasks. A more complete profile with filled-in skills, industries, and work samples significantly increases your chances of being selected. Can I use both the expert and business portals with one account? Currently, expert and business accounts are separate. If you need to operate as both an expert and a business on Helios, you will need separate accounts for each. Contact the Helios team through the Get Help panel for guidance on managing dual accounts. How do businesses find me on Helios? Businesses discover experts through the Experts directory (Experts → Listings), where they can search and filter by skills, industries, certifications, work mode, and rate range. They also find experts through service listings in the Services marketplace and through gig applications. A published, complete profile with accurate skills and industries is the most important factor in being discovered. How does payment work for experts? All payments on Helios are processed through Stripe. You must connect a Stripe account before you can receive payments. Go to Settings → Setup Payments to complete the connection. Once a contract is completed and the business finalizes the engagement, payment is processed and transferred to your connected account — typically within 1–3 business days depending on your bank. What is the Dashboard available gigs count? The Available Gigs count on your Dashboard shows the number of open gig postings that match the skills listed in your Expert Profile. The more complete and specific your skills matrix, the more accurately this number reflects relevant opportunities for you. Can I use the Productivity Tools as an expert? Yes. Catalogs+, Helios Drive, Bookmarks, Activities, and Global Search are available to all Helios members, including experts. Use them to reference product specs, store engagement files, and organize your client work alongside your active projects. 🔧 Troubleshooting I logged in but I see a business portal instead of the expert portal. You may be logged into a business account. Log out and log back in with your expert account credentials. If you only have one account and are unsure of the account type, contact the Helios team through the Get Help panel. The Earn Money section is not visible in my navigation. Earn Money is an expert-only section. If it is not visible, you may be logged into a business account, or your account may not have been fully set up as an expert account. Contact the Helios team through the Get Help panel to confirm your account type. My Dashboard is not showing any available gigs. The Available Gigs count is based on your published skills. If your Skills & Competence section in My Profile is empty or unpublished, no gig matches can be calculated. Fill in your skills matrix and publish your profile, then check the Dashboard count again. I cannot set up payments in Settings. Go to Settings → Setup Payments and follow the prompts to connect your Stripe account. If the Setup Payments option is not visible or the Stripe connection is failing, try a different browser or contact the Helios team through the Get Help panel for assistance. My profile completeness percentage is not updating. Each section of your profile contributes to the score. Focus on the required fields first: Headline, Summary & My Story, Professional Experience, Skills & Competence, and Work Preferences. After saving each section, refresh the Dashboard to see the updated score. The portal navigation is not loading correctly. Try refreshing the page. If the navigation remains broken, clear your browser cache (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows) or try a different browser. If the issue persists, report it through the lightbulb icon → Ideas & Platform Feedback, or use the Get Help button to contact the Helios team. 💡 Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Expert Portal ⭐ Publish your profile before anything else. An unpublished profile is completely invisible to businesses. Nothing else you do on the platform matters until this is done. ⭐ Set up Stripe payments early. You cannot receive payment for any completed engagement until your Stripe account is connected. Go to Settings → Setup Payments before you start taking on work. ⭐ Use all three earning methods at once. Your Service listings work passively while you actively apply to Gigs and Quick Tasks. There is no reason to limit yourself to one method. ⭐ Check your Dashboard regularly. The Available Gigs count updates as new postings match your skills. It's the fastest way to see relevant new opportunities without browsing the full board. ⭐ Treat your profile as a living document. After each engagement, update your Work I've Done section, add any new certifications, and refine your skills. A recently updated profile signals an active, engaged expert. Helios Services I Offer Tab Service Listings Create and manage the services you offer on Helios. Define your scope of work, pricing, deliverables, and turnaround time so businesses can request your services directly. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions How does my profile affect my chances of getting hired? Significantly. A complete, polished profile builds trust and helps businesses decide to hire you quickly. Clients review your profile when evaluating your gig applications, when browsing the Experts directory, and when they receive a service request. Higher profile completeness also improves your visibility in search results. What is the difference between Certifications I Hold and Familiar Cert & Standards? Certifications I Hold is for certifications you have formally earned and can prove (for example, OSHA 30-Hour, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor). Familiar Cert & Standards is for standards or certifications you are knowledgeable about but do not formally hold. For example, you understand AS9120 standards even if you haven't been certified. What should I put in my Headline? Your headline should be specific and searchable. Use keywords a client would type when looking for someone like you: your specialty, industry, and top credential. Keep it under 180 characters. Example: CNC Machining Specialist | Fixture Design | Lean Manufacturing | On-Site & Remote. Can I have multiple skill maturity levels? Yes. You can add multiple skills across different categories, each with its own maturity level. The scale runs from 1 (Familiar) through 5 (Expert or Master), depending on the skill category. What happens if I unpublish my profile? Your profile becomes hidden from the Experts directory and from businesses browsing the platform. You will no longer appear in search results. Unpublish only if you are temporarily unavailable for work. What is the difference between publishing to the Experts Directory and publishing to the Internet? Publishing to the Experts Directory makes your profile discoverable by other Helios users. Publishing to the Internet creates a public web page that can be shared directly and, if Search Engine Indexing is enabled, discovered through search engines. 🔧 Troubleshooting My profile completeness percentage is not increasing. Each section contributes to your completeness score. Focus on required fields first: Headline, Summary & My Story, Professional Experience, Skills & Competence, and Work Preferences. Optional sections also contribute when filled in. My profile banner or photo is not saving. Ensure your file is within the 10 MB size limit and is a standard format (JPEG, PNG). Try uploading from a different browser if the issue persists. My profile is published but I am not appearing in the Experts directory. It may take a moment for the directory to refresh. Confirm your profile completeness is reasonably high and your skills and industries are filled in, as these feed the search and filter system. Check that your Where I'm Available area is configured. The Skills & Competence editor is not responding. Try refreshing the page. Skills data is loaded dynamically, so a slow connection can delay the interface. If the issue continues, contact Helios support through the Get Help panel. 💡 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Expert Profile ⭐ Don't wait until everything is perfect to publish. An 80% complete published profile is significantly more valuable than a 100% complete unpublished one. You can keep improving it while it's live. ⭐ Work I've Done is the most underutilized section of expert profiles and one of the most impactful. Real photos, anonymized reports, and before/after examples turn claims into proof. Add at least two examples before publishing. ⭐ Be specific in your Headline. Vague titles like 'Manufacturing Consultant' get scrolled past. Specific headlines like 'CNC Process Engineer | Machining Optimization | Scrap Reduction | Remote & On-Site' get clicked. ⭐ Use honest maturity levels in your Skills matrix. Businesses filter by proficiency and will quickly recognize a mismatch. Accurate levels build trust; inflated levels create mismatched engagements. ⭐ Keep your profile current. After completing a significant engagement, update your Work I've Done section and add any new certifications or skills. A recently updated profile signals an active, engaged expert.
