Payments, Billing Authorization, and Stored Payment Methods

1. Payment Processing

Helios uses third-party payment processors, including Stripe, to facilitate payments on the platform. By using Helios, you agree that your payment transactions will be processed by such providers in accordance with their applicable terms and policies. Helios does not directly store full payment card details but may store certain payment-related information through secure, PCI-compliant partners.

2. Saving Payment Methods

Helios may allow you to save your payment method (e.g., credit/debit card or other supported payment methods) for future use. By choosing to save your payment method, you acknowledge and agree that:

Your payment details will be securely stored and tokenized by our payment processor
The stored payment method will be used only for the purposes disclosed in these Terms
You may manage or remove your saved payment methods at any time through your account settings, subject to any active obligations

Where required, Helios will request your explicit consent (e.g., via a checkbox such as “Save my payment method for future use”) before storing your payment method.

By providing a payment method and completing a transaction on Helios, you expressly authorize Helios to:

Charge your selected payment method for applicable transactions
Initiate one-time or multiple payments on your behalf, depending on the service type
Store and reuse your payment method for future transactions, if you have opted in

This authorization constitutes your written consent to process payments in accordance with these Terms.

4. Off-Session Charges (Charges When You Are Not Actively Using the Platform)

If you save a payment method and provide consent, you authorize Helios to charge your payment method even when you are not actively logged in or using the platform (“off-session charges”).

These may include, but are not limited to:

Completion of pre-authorized service engagements (e.g., gigs or expert services)
Milestone-based payments upon completion or approval
Subscription renewals
Usage-based fees, add-ons, or overages
Adjustments, penalties, or additional agreed charges

By consenting, you agree that Helios may initiate such payments on your behalf in accordance with the agreed terms of the transaction.

5. Payment Timing and Frequency

Depending on the service or transaction type, payments may occur as:

One-time payments: Charged at the time of purchase or service confirmation
Milestone-based payments: Charged upon completion of defined project stages
Recurring payments: Charged at regular intervals (e.g., monthly subscriptions)
Usage-based or variable payments: Charged based on actual usage, scope changes, or agreed modifications
On-demand or unscheduled charges: Triggered by user actions or agreed service conditions

You will be informed of the applicable billing structure at the time of transaction.

6. Determination of Payment Amounts

Payment amounts on Helios are determined based on one or more of the following:

Fixed pricing set by experts, vendors, or service providers
Hourly or project-based rates
Milestone or deliverable-based agreements
Platform service fees, transaction fees, or commissions
Adjustments due to scope changes, additional services, or agreed modifications

By proceeding with a transaction, you agree to the pricing structure presented at checkout or as otherwise agreed within the platform.

7. Cancellations, Refunds, and Disputes

Cancellation and refund eligibility depend on the nature of the service:

Gigs (project-based work): Subject to agreed milestones, progress, and cancellation terms
Quick Tasks: Typically non-refundable once completed or delivered
Subscriptions: May be canceled at any time, with effect at the end of the current billing cycle unless otherwise stated

Helios may, at its discretion or where required, issue refunds, partial refunds, or credits in accordance with its policies. Disputes may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Helios maintains records of your payment authorizations and consent, including:

Acceptance of these Terms
Opt-in to save payment methods
Authorization for off-session charges
Transaction history and billing agreements

These records may be used for compliance, dispute resolution, and audit purposes.

9. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

Provide accurate and up-to-date payment information
Ensure you are authorized to use the selected payment method
Maintain sufficient funds or credit availability
Promptly update or remove invalid payment methods

Failure to fulfill payment obligations may result in suspension or termination of access to Helios services.

10. Modifications/updates

Helios reserves the right to update this section to reflect changes in payment processing requirements, legal obligations, or platform functionality. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any updates.
